Privacy and cookies

How this historical research website uses information about visits.

What this website is for

Patient Sexual Safety (PSS) is an independent research and historical information website. It does not take reports, collect personal accounts or offer individual advice. Please do not send private or sensitive information to PSS using website links. If you need assistance, use the Finding help page.

Google Analytics

With your permission, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people visit and how the website is used. Google Analytics may use cookies to recognise visits and provide website statistics. This information is sent to Google for measurement. We do not use this website to build advertising audiences or to collect reports of sexual harm.

Google Analytics is off unless you choose “Accept analytics”. If you choose “Reject analytics”, our website does not load its Google Analytics script. You can change your decision at any time using “Cookie settings” at the bottom of any page.

Google explains how it handles information in its guidance on UK privacy and analytics data and Google’s privacy policy.

What we store to remember your choice

Your browser stores the choice you make about analytics for up to six months, so you do not have to answer on every page. This website does not need an account, name, email address or password. Cloudflare provides hosting and security and may process technical information needed to deliver and protect the website. This is separate from optional website analytics.

Cloudflare Web Analytics

Cloudflare Web Analytics has been disabled for this website. It does not form part of our visitor statistics. The only optional website analytics described here is Google Analytics 4, which loads only after you choose “Accept analytics”. Cloudflare may still process technical data to operate and protect the website.

External links

Links to NHS organisations, regulators, police, support services and historical documents take you to other websites with their own privacy rules. This site is not affiliated with those organisations.
